Indonesia again recorded the highest daily Covid-19 case in the world on Thursday (15/7).
Positive cases of the corona virus in Indonesia increased by 56,757, and this is the latest record.
Based on Worldometer statistical data, Brazil ranks second with the most daily cases of Covid, namely 52,789 people. Britain is in third place with 48,553 cases.
Meanwhile, for new deaths, Indonesia is in second place with 982 people. Brazil reported the most daily reports in the world with 1,552 deaths. Then the third position is occupied by Russia with 791 deaths.
The addition of the most recovered patients was also in Brazil with 58556 people. Then India with 39,823 patients recovered, and Russia with 21,493 people.
Indonesia continues to record an increase in Covid-19 infections and continues to record the highest number of cases for several consecutive days.
This spike in Covid cases has earned Indonesia the nickname the new epicenter of Covid-19 in Asia.
The Associated Press in its article "Indonesia reports 54,000 virus cases, becomes Asian hotspot" Wednesday (14/7) reported Indonesia's daily infections surpassing India, where the transmission is starting to subside.
The Covid-19 Task Force said the Delta variant, which is more easily transmitted, was the cause of the spike in cases in Indonesia.
This new wave of corona has also triggered the hospital occupancy rate (BOR) to reach more than 90 percent in a number of areas and add to the increasingly limited burden of health workers.
As a result of the surge in Covid-19 cases and the more contagious variant of the Delta corona, which continues to spread, a number of countries have also limited their borders to Indonesian citizens.
These countries are Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, European Countries, Hong Kong, Japan, Bahrain and the Philippines as well as the United Kingdom.
Even foreigners who are in Indonesia decide to return to their country. It was recorded that Japanese and Taiwanese citizens began to return to their countries following the surge in corona cases here.
Around 100 Taiwanese businessmen and expatriates in Indonesia are reported to have booked flights home on chartered or chartered planes due to the worsening Covid-19 situation in the archipelago.
